Revitalization Master Plan of the Former Pabrik Kina Bandung
(Bandoengsche Kininefabriek)
The former Bandoengsche Kininefabriek established in 1896 was once a major
industry that supplies 90% of the world’s demand for kinine. The 7-hectare
complex of factories, warehouses and employee quarters that has always
been part Bandung’s urban landscape is now a protected Class-A landmark as well as a prime property ripe for development.
Using established conservation methods, we identified each and every
buildings to assess its cultural significance; and in consultation with the
city’s heritage conservation authority, we developed a conservation policy to ensure protection of the landmark and allows limited development to boost its economic viability.
